Terms and Conditions
Rules
- Winners will be those solutions, which in the opinion of the judges, best meet the
criteria outlined for each of the three categories mentioned below:
The Education Award
Winning Criteria: Most inspiring use of FileMaker in education.
The Business Award
Winning Criteria: Most effective use of FileMaker.
The Innovation Award
Winning Criteria: Most innovative use of FileMaker technology.
- Nominated solutions require to be created in FileMaker Pro* and currently in use
by a registered company, educational establishment, government body, or not-for-profit
organisation and nominated by a customer or
FBA or TechNet member.
- Only entries submitted on the approved online form will be judged.
- Only one nomination per customer nominee will be accepted.
- All entries must be received by 17:00hrs on Friday 10th October 2008.
This deadline may be extended at the organisers discretion.
- Only residents of UK and the Republic of
Ireland and over 18 years of age are eligible.
- Entries must be submitted using the online entry form at www.filemaker.co.uk/cubeawards/entry before 17:00hrs on 10th October 2008.
- The details on the form must include contact details, a description of the issue
addressed and how this was resolved.
- FileMaker, Inc. does not assume responsibility for phone, technical, network,
computer, hardware or software failure of any kind, stolen, incomplete, garbled, or
delayed internet/mail computer transmission, or lost, late, misdirected, damaged,
illegible, stolen, incomplete, misaddressed entire or incorrectly transmitted entries.
Entries will be disqualified if not complete with all the information
requested.
- Shortlisted candidates will be advised on or around 14th October and must be prepared
to present their entry in person at a venue (TBC) or WebEx on or around 20th/21st
October 2008.
Presentations will last no longer than one hour per entry and up to 3 people may attend. Representation can be drawn from designers, developers or users. The presentation format will allow time for a formal presentation and questions. - An affirmation of eligibility, Ownership of Submission, Liability/Publicity Release and Compliance Statement must be completed by those entrants short listed to be eligible for the prize. A copy of this document will be supplied on submission of the solution.
Solution Criteria
Solutions will be judged on their interface, their functionality and how well they meet an organisation's need.
Judging
The judging panel is made up of any or all of the following:- a technology journalist, an independent FileMaker trainer, an independent FileMaker developer and a FileMaker-employed Sales Engineer. The final winners will be informed on or around 21st November 2008 at The Cube Awards luncheon.
The judges' decision is final.
The winner and runners up should allow 30 days for delivery of their prizes. By entering, the nominated party (a) agrees to the official rules and the decisions of the judges which shall be final in all respects; (b) consent to the winners' names and likenesses and any statements, quotes, testimonials provided by the winners to reprint, display, and exhibit the entry for advertising and publicity purposes without further compensation except where prohibited by law; (c) and release FileMaker International from any and all liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize.
Conditions
Submissions will not be returned.
Prizes
Three Prizes (one for each Award category) of £500 worth of FileMaker software and a Cube Award.
In addition there will be a Winner of Winners Prize – a trip to FileMaker Developer Conference 2009 in San Francisco (includes economy flight, conference fee and accommodation only). Winner is responsible for all other expenses.
No cash equivalent will be offered. All prizes will be awarded.
Verification of Ownership and Originality
FileMaker International reserves the right to verify the ownership and the originality of the submission before any prizes can be awarded. The judges reserve the right to select an alternative winner in the event that a selected winner's ownership rights and the originality of the work can not be properly verified. Only entries whose originality and ownership have been verified may be used by FileMaker International in future advertising and/or promotional materials. Failure to submit an affirmation of eligibility, Ownership of Submission, Liability/Publicity Release and Compliance Statement will result in disqualification from the competition.
Exclusions and Disclaimers
Employees of Apple Inc, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, or other identifiable ineligibles are excluded from this award. Winners are responsible for payment of all applicable taxes. FileMaker International is not responsible for lost, late, stolen, damaged, misdirected or postage due entries. Entries will be disqualified if incorrectly filled out, not complete, torn or tampered with in any way.
