'We Don’t Need No Communication!'

School leavers are more confident in IT skills than interpersonal skills

The next generation are turning into a 'reclusive nation' according to the final phase of the "Educated Tea Makers" research report commissioned by FileMaker. The research found that 83% of school leavers and graduates in the UK feel more confident in their IT skills, compared to only 75% who feel comfortable communicating face-to-face. Professor Cary Cooper at Lancaster University comments: "Whilst IT can be a useful medium of communication it is worrying to see that the balance is tipping away from face-to-face discussion. Relying on IT can restrict emotional engagement and can often lead more quickly to unnecessary conflict and misunderstanding."

IT Spend: The Budget

Following Alistair Darling’s Budget changes that came into force on 6th April, SMEs can now consider revamping their IT systems as they qualify for a 100 per cent tax break on spend on capital items over £50,000.
