MegaphoneCall for Bento Users

Following our call for entries of Bento users last month, we have had some fascinating examples sent in.

Veronica, The Novelist
One such example is that of Veronica, a novelist who writes crime novels. She has written a series of thirteen books with a number of recurring characters and places. She now uses Bento to log the plots and characters for each book so she can view them as individual cards. Organisation through Bento has helped her to find discrepancies – "No! Her husband's name is Sam, not Tom."  Bother!

Please send any examples of how Bento has helped you to bento@octopuscomms.net. Looking for inspiration for the kinds of things that can be organised with Bento?

Organised MindOrganised Mind Saves Time

This month we are carrying out the 'Organised Mind Saves Time' survey looking at how much time people spend searching for documents, unnecessarily creating new ones when templates already exist and the number of information systems they have to access in a day. We look forward to reporting the results back to you soon.

Solve a Data Importing Conundrum

Lee Lukehart, Soliant Consulting Director of Training
I have a data importing puzzle. I'm the sales coordinator for my company's five field sales reps. The first week of every month, each rep sends me his prior month's call log as a text file to import it into our archive database. It's easy enough to manually import these text files, but some months they just won't import correctly. I'll wait a couple days, then the files will import just fine. Even stranger – if one file doesn't work, all five don't work. The problem is that all the data for each record will go into only the first field, not the six different fields we track. The other imports I do that week all work fine. Is it something I'm doing?
