FileMaker Activation

About Activation

FileMaker has introduced activation technology in single-license versions and 5-Packs of FileMaker Pro 9 and single-license versions of FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced.

What does Activation do?

Activation helps ensure you have a genuine copy of FileMaker software, and helps protect FileMaker, Inc. from illegal distribution of its software.

How does Activation work?

The activation process will be prompted the first time you launch select FileMaker applications. It will take just a few seconds to complete via the Internet, and there will be nopersonal information captured or transmitted during the process for individual licenses.

You may also choose to activate you software by contacting FileMaker Customer Assistance, choosing the appropriate phone number based on your location, from the Activate by Phone Contact Page.

You have 30 days to activate your software, after which time non-activated software no longer functions. If you are using a trial version, activation must be completed prior to using the software.

Technically Speaking

The unique License Key, included with each copy of FileMaker software, is combined with a "machine identifier" for the user's computer. When the product is activated on a computer, this machine identifier and the software License Key are both provided to FileMaker to help ensure that each genuine copy of its software is not activated more than the permitted number of times, based on the End User License Agreement. The FileMaker activation system does not collect, transmit, or use any personal information, and is completely separate from the product registration process.
